Award for artistic performance
The International Jury awarded for the first time the prize, established from the honorary patron Mrs. Antonina Stoyanova "for artistic performance" to ZHU YEN, China. The prize was bestowed personally by Mrs. Antonina Stoyanova.

After the finishing of the competition took place grandiose Super Gala Concert "Meeting of the Generations" - Varna’98. The laureates of the last competition as well as the world-famous ballet stars, laureates of the previous editions took part in the Varna Ballet Olympiad.

In parallel with the Competition as the attendant activity, from July 15th through July 30th was held the International Summer Ballet Academy Varna’98.In the programme were included daily classes in classical ballet, classical repertoire, contemporary ballet and jazz. The qualification courses were led by the world-famous pedagogues from Bulgaria and abroad.

The Foundation "International Ballet Competition - Varna" was set up in 1992. It continued the tradition of integral preparation, regular carrying and financial security of the competition for which outstanding contribution have also its sponsors, advertisers and donators. President of the Foundation "International Ballet Competition - Varna" is Assoc. Prof. Emil Dimitrov.
